I analysed the monthly number of individual visits (uniques) from the log files for a number of hotels that I have written sites for. In fairness to the hotels concerned, I have not used their names
Hotel | month 1 | month 2 | month 3 | month 4 | month 5 | month 6
hotel A | 412 | 1333 | 1669 | 1768 | 2125 | 2350
. | |||||||
hotel B | 196 | 571 | 1586 | 1518 | 1733 | 1766
. | |||||||
hotel C | 155 | 700 | 793 | 1703 | 1417 | 1800
. | |||||||
hotel D | 191 | 393 | 570 | 1045 | 1227 | 1216
. | |||||||
hotel E | na | 710 | 1261 | 1900 | |||
. | |||||||
hotel F | na | 542 | 1109 | 1400 |
You can see that there is a reasonably "common" pattern, even though the hotels are very different ranging from b&b through low priced holiday to high priced country house.
Basically it take around three to four months to see what sort of numbers of visitors the hotel can expect, and after that time period a hotel should see Soft Options delivering them at least 30 to 60 visits a day.
Why the spread, the answer (probably) lies in
location - more people are looking up "Cotswolds" than say "Bradford", so a Cotswolds hotel will get more visits on its web site
time of year - seasonally rears its head as much in web sites as in hotels
